What to Expect in Sadie's Fall Art Classes (By Grade Level)
One of the most common questions we hear from parents is: what will my child actually do in class? It's a great question. Not all art programs are created equal, and we want you to know exactly what you're signing up for.
Here's a grade-by-grade look at what happens inside Sadie's Creative Art Studio every week.
Art & Giggles โ Grades K through 2 (3:30โ4:30 PM)
For our youngest artists, the goal is simple: make something, feel proud of it, and have fun doing it.
In Art and Giggles, kids work with paint, collage, clay, and other tactile materials. Projects are designed to be achievable and joyful โ not frustrating. We focus on process over product, which means your kindergartner isn't going home with a perfect painting. They're going home with something that's genuinely theirs.
Fine motor skills, color recognition, and following multi-step instructions are all built naturally into the projects. And yes, there will be glitter.
Creative Explorers โ Grades 3 through 5 (4:45โ5:45 PM)
By third grade, kids are ready to go deeper. Creative Explorers introduces real techniques: watercolor washes, layering, mixed media, and basic composition.
Students in this class start to develop their own artistic voice. They learn that there's more than one right answer in art โ and that making mistakes is part of the process. Projects build on each other across the six-week session, so students finish with a small portfolio of work they're genuinely proud of.
Art Lab โ Grades 6 through 8 (6:00โ7:00 PM)
Art Lab is our most advanced class, and it's designed for middle schoolers who are ready to be taken seriously as artists.
We cover color theory, composition, perspective, and personal expression. Students choose their own subjects for some projects and work in a studio-style environment where they're expected to make decisions and defend them. It's challenging, engaging, and exactly what a lot of middle schoolers are hungry for.
What Every Class Has in Common
Regardless of grade level, every Sadie's class includes the same core commitments: all supplies provided, a credentialed and background-checked instructor, small class sizes, and a safe and encouraging environment.
Our instructor is autism-informed and CPR certified. We welcome kids of all abilities and learning styles.
